Milan, October 2009 – Designed focusing on business needs, the new Gateway DS10 series represents an effective application of Gateway's deep awareness of evolving market requirements and its broad technological expertise to provide a desktop solution that brings superior efficiency and enhanced manageability to the modern business environment.
The new case design, simple and strong at the same time, showcases the Gateway PC's solidity, high performance and reliability, conveying an efficient and professional feel. Rebuilt from the ground up, the internal mechanics are designed to improve maintenance and upgrades while the tool-less design of the case simplifies access to hardware and internal components and eases any maintenance operation.
Just one-third the size of a traditional desktop computer, the new Gateway DS10, offers a wealth of new features and technologies, aimed at improving manageability and functionality. Running on the Intel® Core™2 Quad processor with up to 8 GB of ultra-fast DDR3 memory the DS10 enhances business productivity by speeding through multiple operations and processor-demanding tasks in challenging multitasking environments. Ample storage space is ensured by up to a 1TB serial ATA HD. Furthermore, the Intel G43 Express Chipset delivers high definition video playback without video cards or decoders, optimized 3D graphics performance and support for Microsoft® DirectX® 10. For maximum effectiveness, a Gigabit Ethernet port with Wake-on-LAN support, provides ample bandwidth for fast downloads and ensures a secure and efficient LAN connection.
The new Gateway DS10 is also highly energy efficient and packed with power-saving functions: it meets TCO'05 and ENERGY STAR® 5.0 requirements and is certified as "green product" by a variety of international standards that certify its low energy consumption, helping to reduce both environmental impact and overhead costs. The DS10 desktop is among the few computers that received the TCO’05 certification, the latest standard for desktop computers that marks environmental and ergonomic excellence guaranteeing extremely low energy consumption, low noise levels, low electric and magnetic fields and minimal usage of substances that are harmful to the environment.
All Gateway Desktop PCs come with 1-year on-site and 3-year spare part warranties. Customers have the right to pick-up and replacement of defective or malfunctioning products with an equivalent product for the entire warranty period. Plus, thanks to the Gateway Plus warranty program, customers can increase equipment availability and productivity with high-quality onsite and remote support by extending the limited warranties on Gateway desktops or desktops + LCD displays (when purchased together) for up to 3, 4, or 5 years.
The Gateway DS10 series comes with Microsoft Windows Vista® Business preinstalled; it will also be available with Windows 7 Professional when released by Microsoft. Additional installed software includes Gateway Recovery Management, Microsoft Office Ready 2007 Service Pack 1, Gateway Security Suite with Wave EMBASSY Trust Suite, Adobe Reader, CyberLink Power DVD, CyberLink Power 2GO and Norton Internet Security 2009 trial.
