Gateway and eMachines engineers are designing our products to limit or eliminate the use of hazardous substances. We conduct safety and usability tests to ensure our products not only meet customer performance requirements and are easy to use, but also meet or surpass safety standards. In addition, Gateway strives to develop products: •    With consideration to upgradeability as a means of extending product life. •    With consideration for their ability to be reused and recycled. •    That can be safely disposed of at end of life. •    That meets European Energy certification standards, assuring users of lower energy use. Gateway continues to look for ways to reduce the amount of packaging shipped with our products so our customers have less packaging waste to dispose. We are also working to ensure that packaging material is recyclable. Additionally, all Gateway packaging complies with the European Union Packaging Waste Directive regarding heavy metal content. For unwanted computers and peripherals, Gateway is pleased to offer all customers with options to recycle their old, end of life computers and electronic equipment in an environmentally sound fashion.
